Fit
Nordchain cooperates closely with tyre manufacturers and OEMs in attaining the optimal chain fit. Robust connectors permit easy and safe installation.
U Spikes
Pressure welded U spikes are the hallmarks of Nordchain/Gunnebo Skogsgrip, Superstud, and Megastud forestry snow chains. They have been copied many times. The U spikes resist twisting even under side loads, assuring the best traction force. Yet the open U also prevents branches from being spiked up.
The chain NORDCHAIN chain/Gunnebo Piggelin Flex is a development for skidders that need frequent chain changes, work at speeds as high as 30 km/h, and yet manage to transfer high traction forces in brushwood and on ice and snow. The turned links lying flat on the tyre roll off with great ease, and the spikes on the front and rear of the link provide enormous grip, at the same time protecting the chain against wear. A highly powerful and cost effective forestry snow chain for skidders.
Chain meshes
There are chain meshes with a wide range of densities. An open mesh is recommended for loamy soils, for good self cleaning effects. For work on rocky surfaces and rock overburden, we recommend the TS models with tyre wall guard.
Geometry
The meshes for the Skogsgrip and Superstud forestry snow chains are made up of large rings that keep the U spikes in stable contact with the forest soil. Their diameter is always greater than that of the connecting forestry snow chains (13 mm chain with 16 mm ring and 16 mm U spike; 16 mm chain with 19 mm ring and 19 mm U spike). This helps to keep in position the connecting forestry snow chains with the transverse U spikes. The best traction is therefore assured – the spikes cannot twist aside.
Chain steel
NORDCHAIN forestry snow chains are made of boron alloy steel and case hardened in a complex, multistage process. This process provides extreme hardness and wear resistance.
