Grapple: HULTDINS SuperGrip I 260-R with 1.525 mm opening width
The four prongs of the brushwood grapple can also surround trunks with branches in the way.
Thanks to the large opening, it can grasp trunks with branches and squeeze them together.
Additional strips of teeth have been welded to the centre of the brushwood grapple that incline the teeth to centre the trunk.
Saw cassette: HULTDINS SuperSaw 550 with 10 cm³ Parker enginge and und return control
All the control functions such as rail feed, rail retention and chain tension are integrated.
An adjustable choke has been fitted in the return line that is accessible from the outside so the rail feed can easily be carried out on the hydraulic power of the carrier device or on tree species of different hardnesses.
An additional connection to the chain oil tank ensures that the oil supply to the chain is independent of the position.
The permitted load capacity of the SCHWANITZ Felling Grapple 500-T in the vertical direction is 3,000 kg. The swivel drive, with its tremendous torque of 9,464 Nm, is supported by a frame on the upper and side parts, and so takes up the load of the vertical or inclined trees. The maximum load is limited to 1,500 kg with a vertical or inclined load and centre of gravity above the grapple. That’s enough for impressive tree sections.
There is a 4-fold rotary joint for the hydraulic hoses, which means that the felling grapple rotates by 360°. A Manitou quick-release holder is fitted to the swivel drive. On the latest version of the SCHWANITZ Felling Grapple 500-T, the changeover valve for the hydraulic functions and a Faster multi-coupling for the hydraulic lines are in a protected position behind the mounting plate. The entire felling grapple including mounting plate weighs 510 kg. This is impressively little for a device with a cross-cut diameter of 650 mm.
The name of the SCHWANITZ Felling Grapple 500-T is a reference to the maximum trunk diameter of 500 mm, which can be completely enclosed by the claws. The standard rail is 90 cm – 100 cm and 113 cm long, and can be mounted for particularly thick sections.
The saw also cuts easily through thick trunks. A 65 cm cross-cut diameter is possible with the 90 cm rail, 70 cm with the 100 cm bar, and 80 cm with the 113 cm bar.
The SCHWANITZ Felling Grapple 500-T is also suitable for attachment to long-arm excavators.
